Metalarte

Metalarte

Biography

Metalarte was originally founded by Antonio Riera Clariana when, in 1932, he set up a metal workshop which he called "Metalls Arts". After the Spanish Civil War the workshop changed its name to "Metal Artes" and from then on specialised in lighting.

In 1963 the company moved to a new building near Barcelona, which gave rise to a new impetus in the brand's production capacity.

With the incorporation of the second generation of the family, the company began to give great importance to the image of both the product and the company, and not only focused on the quality of the product as it had done until then. From that moment on, the name was changed to Metalarte, and the company incorporated the figure of the Graphic Designer who would collaborate with the Industrial Designer in the design of new products.

In the 1980s, the company was given a new impetus with the collaboration and incorporation of a new generation of designers.
Metalarte currently forms part of the Luxiona Group (together with the Troll and Sagelux brands) and continues to be committed to a constant search for innovation and quality.
Its catalogue includes the collaboration of National Design Prizes such as André Ricard, Josep Lluscá, Miquel Milà, Mario Ruiz... and in recent years with designers of the stature of Jaime Hayón and Lázaro Rosa-Violán.
